Transparent fuel pricing is a hot topic, with the Government [today] announcing the consultation launch of a new Pumpwatch scheme that will make it easier for drivers to shop around for the cheapest fuel.
Under the new scheme all fuel stations across the country would be legally required to share real-time price information (within 30minutes of a change), with an organisation to be appointed by the government.
This means that millions of drivers will be able to get the latest petrol station prices at the click of a button, assuming that consumer technology companies quickly react to develop user friendly apps and price comparison websites. The Government’s aim is to encourage competition and drive down prices for consumers.
Our passion at MADIC UK is to provide technology that keeps our retail customers ahead of competition and regulation, so we’ve been keeping a close eye on fuel price transparency. In fact, we’ve already developed functionality that enables our retailers to easily access local fuel prices so they can price competitively. Introducing, Dashboard Fuel Price Tiles on evoBackOffice. Giving you easy visibility of local fuel prices on your evoBackOffice dashboard, that you can access from anywhere. Say goodbye to driving around to find your competitors fuel pricing and hello to driving consumers to your station.
